I had a very nice dinner on Saturday (Oct. 26th 2013)
Bourbon Blue
2 Rector St
Philadelphia, PA 19127
Neighborhoods: Manayunk, Roxborough

Later, we saw a DVD and went to the Halloween house party near University City.
It was so nice to have a time with new friends.
I forgot to bring my camera so couldn't take any pictures.
Unfortunately, I didn't dress up this year, but everybody really welcomed me and made me feel very comfortable there :)

This afternoon, I went to south Philly with JR and had my first authentic cheese steak in South Philly.
Geno's Philly Cheese Steak
1219 S 9th St
Philadelphia, PA 19147

Pat's King of Steaks
 1237 E Passyunk Ave
Philadelphia, PA 19147

We ordered same cheese steak from each place and shared.
I liked Geno's Philly Cheese Steak because the bread was softer and the steak was mush tenderized than Pat's. I think older people might like Pat's steaks because of the thinker cut of steak with thicker cheese.
"Wit cheese" "Wit out cheese" :)

Marinade Tuna on rice (まぐろの漬け丼)

Ingredients: Sashimi (sushi) tuna
Sauce: 1TBP Soy sauce, 1 TBP dark mirin, 0.5 TBP brown sugar, one-two drops of sesame oil

Heat up the sauce and adjust the taste by adding more water or soy sauce.

Kill the bacteria by squeezing any acid (lime/lemon)

Coat the tuna with the lime juice and lightly with paper towel

Slice the tuna and layer them in a container

Add the sauce to the tuna

Add few drops of sesame oil
(put the container in the refrigerator at least 1hr. I marinated for a day)

Baked curry (焼きカレー)

I am going to baked curry and regular curry for later.

Ingredients: Chunk carrots, diced carrots, chunk onion, diced onion, frozen corn and beans, chunk chicken thigh, shrimp, 2 eggs, curry roux

On heated pan, add diced garlic, and 1/2 prepared chicken thigh

Add 2 cubs of curry roux

I added some diced ham that I had, add diced carrot

Add diced onion

Add 1/2 half of frozen corns and peas

Add little bit of water to help the curry roux melt

Add prepared shrimp

While the shrimp is cooking on the other side, on a deep pan and add the rest of the chicken

Add chunks of carrots and onion

Add water until 3/4 full.
I think I added about a liter of cold water

Now, back to the pan; add steamed rice (Try not to make the rice too sticky)

Transfer those to bake pot

Crack an egg on the top

Cover with cheese that you have on hand..
I wish I had nagaimo.. Oh well, I don't have it..

Bake it until those cheese melt

Back to the deep pot, add 4 cubs of curry roux and bring that to boil.
Skim off those form occasionally.

Add rest of the frozen corn and peas.
Bring the water to boil until it thickens..
Cool them when you think it's ready and keep it in refrigerator.
Heat them whenever you need. (don't heat the container each time you need, because frequent temp. change can contaminate the curry much faster!)

Time to eat!!

Close up~

Eat with shrimp :)

Don't forget the chicken~ :)

Warning, it can be pretty over powered food because of the roux.
Suppose to use curry powder....... ah hahaha.......

Richmond, Virginia

During my 10 days of fall break, I met friends, ordered delivery food,
cooked more and went to Richmond, VA for a day.

It was a short trip, and I had very stressful thoughts.
Topics about family, friends, new friends, more connections, and memories since 2001 to now and more.
I've lost many friends but gained some.
I have been connected with strangers and made new friends, but they left me eventually.
We have our own lives and when the time or value doesn't meet, we lose interest very easily.

I'm only 26, as of 2013, and saw many friends come and go.

Unfortunately,
one of my friend, mentor and teacher, left me forever, and many of his friends and families miss him very much.
I knew he left us in 2010 but could not believe and tried to think positively.
I found out the truth yesterday and finalized my curiosities.
Before I leave Richmond, I visited him and left a flower and cried and cried.
I had to take a rest about 30 min, because my eyes were swollen and couldn't see the road.
I promised him that I will visit him again, but told him that I cannot tell him 'when'.
I'm sure he understands my situation and promised him that I will be back with a ring on my finger. haha :) I hope he smiled too. Rest In Peace papa..

These are the pictures where I took at papa's best friends, Mr&Mrs. O'Connor's house.
They always impress me with their knowledge whenever I talk with them.
I sincerely appreciate and want to thank them that when I visited them randomly, they welcomed me truly.

These cooking books are only small part of MR(?!) O'Connor's collection.
Mostly, I talk about recipes with female, but I realized that MAN CAN COOK and CAN GET INTEREST IN COOKING TOO!

House décor with beautiful antique displays.

Very formal house dinner setup!
I don't even prep my dining table like this...
SHAM ON YOU, SOPHIE!

Generation to generation antique china set!
They are very thin, and you can even see thru..

More cook old, local, family recipe cook book collection~
Of course they are also MR. O'Connor's..

COUNTRY STYLE~

The street cat have been part of Mr&Mrs. O'Connor family for a while, and she brought new lives to the family.
She has two playful boys and a dalmatian-like girl.

Chocolate cheep homemade cookies by Mr. O'Connor.

Semi + Semi homemade pizza slices.. :P
Pick up but reheated pizzas......?!?!?

I'll visit you later, and hope it won't this this long.
See you soon papa...
